| Every day the sun shines on the earth and warms the ground. Using a heat pump and a Ground Loop we extract the heat that is stored within the ground all around your home. At 5 feet below the surface the ground holds about 50°F. With the use of a refrigeration system, we exchange heat from the water in the Loop to the refrigerant in the heat pump. Next the compressor compresses the vapor refrigerant to a very high temperature. Much the same way the line on an air compressor gets hot when it runs. Now the hot refrigerant gas goes through another heat exchanger and warms water for water heating applications or can heat air and be blown directly into your duct work. The biggest advantage to using Geothermal Heating is the energy savings. Two thirds of your heat energy for your home is extracted from the ground. So for every dollar you pay for we put out three dollars worth of heat energy. |
